AUSTIN, TEXAS – Juncos Racing’s Diego Ferreira captures the fastest lap in today’s Circuit of America’s promoter test beginning the battle for the 2013 Pro Mazda Championship presented by Cooper Tires.

Venezuelan driver Ferreira, 19, driver of the #57 Juncos Racing/Team Viso Venezuela machine, knocked off Andretti Autosport’s Matthew Brabham in the final of three testing sessions, finishing with a best time of 2:02.794 (99.679 mph). Ferreira returns to Juncos Racing after finishing his rookie season with an impressive sixth in the 2012 Star Mazda Championship.

“I’m very happy with how well we were able to run today,” said Ferreira. “I was second fastest in the two of the three sessions and finally finished with the fastest lap of the day in the final session. The team did an amazing job giving me a fast car, and I did my best by putting up the fastest time of the day. I’m really looking forward to our first race tomorrow and getting my first win in the Pro Mazda Championship.”

Rookie Scott Anderson, driving the #44 Juncos Racing/Laser Nail Centers/Neuropathy Testing Center car, continued to improve throughout the sessions and feels confident he will be competitive in tomorrow’s race with teammate Ferreira.

“Testing today went well,” said Anderson. “We are continuing to get faster and I’m getting more comfortable in the car. We ran into a lot of traffic in our last session, so it was hard to tell where we would have compared to everyone else. My teammate Diego was the fastest so we should be competitive tomorrow where it matters.”

Beginning his fifth season in the Mazda Road to Indy program, Ricardo Juncos, Team Owner, is confident Ferreira and Anderson will be top contenders in tomorrow’s first race of the 2013 season at the Circuit of the Americas.

“We had a very strong day as a team,” said Juncos. “Ferreira showed everyone he is no longer a rookie and will be one of the top drivers to beat this season. The chemistry he has been able to make with the team in the past year has got him to the point he is at today. I am really excited to see Scott put up a great race tomorrow and have a lot of confidence he will be a great driver and teammate for the team this season. I want to thank both drivers for beginning a part of Juncos Racing in the 2013 season, my crew for all of the work they put into giving the drivers fast cars, and to all of our supporters throughout the world.”

The Pro Mazda Championship presented by Cooper Tires will kick off the 2013 season March 1st with qualifying 12:00-12:30PM and Race 1 following at 4:25PM CST at the 3.4 mile road course Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
