Nico Jamin traveled to Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama, with podium expectations. The driver from Normandy, France, who scored two top four finishes in his Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires debut at St. Petersburg, Florida, qualified seventh for the first of the two races at Barber, after a very bizarre session, contested under rain and dry conditions.

In race 1, the Frenchman had a close encounter with his teammate, Jake Eidson, on lap 1 and lost precious positions. Despite that unexpected racing incident, Jamin focused on his driving and was able to pass several cars during the remainder of round 3.  Despite a broken gear shifter, which made his driving more difficult, he finished sixth and scored good points for the 2016 Pro Mazda Championship

Jamin was third fastest in race 1, showing that the Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing Pro Mazda machines had found some extra speed since St Pete.

Thanks to his fast time in race 1, Jamin qualified fourth for race 2, disputed on Sunday morning. The driver from Rouen really wanted race 4 of the season to be his best so far, and was looking for a podium finish.

After a good start, Jamin was trying to keep up with the top four Pro Mazda cars racing ahead of him, but after a while, he had to give up his fourth place at mid-race to finish fifth in race 2.

2016 is Jamin's rookie season in the Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires, but he hopes for much better results in rounds 5 and 6 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 12-14. Jamin won both USF2000 races during the 2015 Grand Prix of Indianapolis and kissed the bricks twice at the Brickyard. That's a feat that he secretly wants to achieve again, knowing that it would be the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500, and a win there would resonate even louder for the driver from Normandy.

After four rounds, Jamin is ranked fourth in the 2016 Pro Mazda presented by Cooper Tires Driver Championship and still second in the Rookie of the Year classification.
